Don’t cut health funds

Regarding “S.F. groups seek reinstatement of COVID funding” (Bay Area & Business, June 10): In a time when COVID-19 is surging across San Francisco, it is unethical and irresponsible to revoke funding that aims to help those disproportionately affected by the pandemic.

Mayor London Breed is dramatically slicing funding to the programs that low-income residents of color rely on to receive health care services. Not only are these nonprofits currently responsible for the vaccination, testing and support of thousands of COVID affected folks, they are largely burdened with the duty of vaccination of children under 5, which looms on the horizon.

In a global pandemic that has proved to be volatile, removing funding that supports vaccinations is deeply inequitable and spells public health disaster.
