Neftaly Gonzalez

Neftaly is an undergraduate at UC Berkeley studying Political Science, Ethnic Studies and Public Policy. Born and raised in the Central Valley (Visalia, CA), Neftaly found it important to promote spaces for youth involvement with necessary discussion surrounding issues that affect marginalized communities. Being from a farming low income community, Neftaly knew the systemic barriers against her in pursuing higher education. To better combat the unknown, Neftaly has become involved in spaces at her University that provide undergraduate students with professional resources through academic, community service, and social events. She serves as an officer for Hermanas Unidas de UC Berkeley and Brown Issues Chapter at UC Berkeley. Beyond the campus environment, Neftaly serves as a board member for the Civic Education Center, a non-profit organization that is focused on civic engagement in public education for improved schools, communities, and public policies. Neftaly aspires to hold a governmental role, committed to a “life as a servant leader”.
