Big Oil in CA - Not Paying What They Owe

California is still the only major oil-producing state that doesn’t put an extraction tax on oil companies. They continually blame California taxes for the high price of gas, but in reality, oil companies inflate their own prices because they can get away with it. Big-oil in California was largely cheered on during the 20th century, but with climate change escalating and oil corporations dodging taxation left and right, attitudes have shifted. Voters want to invest in green energy here, and Newsom says he does too.

California must put its money where its mouth is. For the supposedly progressive utopia it’s supposed to be, California is letting huge corporations get away with major unjust tax breaks - which disastrously impact our environment, our schools, healthcare systems, and so much more. We need to wise up and stand behind the taxation of big oil!
