In a Digital World, We Need to Address Digital Equity
During the beginning of the pandemic, device access increased dramatically for Black and Latino households. Additionally, internet access saw an increase, especially among low-income households. However, this increase has stalled and major gaps remain with 41% of low-income household still not having full access to a device and internet.
In our modern world, with increased dependence on the internet and COVID keeping us indoors, digital equity is a major issue when talking about education. Without digital equity, the education and learning gaps will continue to increase, especially for already marginalized communities.
