Standing with the LAUSD three-day Strike

Union leaders, teachers, and staff participated in a three-day strike looking for a long-term solution for schools, workers, students, and families for higher pay and improved working and learning conditions. The contract demands a total increased average salary from $25,000 to $36,000. The LAUSD teachers and staff are looking to address the “Beyond Recovery '' contract proposals because just as much as they are advising for better working conditions, they are aware that it inevitably impacts the student’s learning conditions.

The ongoing strike and bargaining will not end until the teachers and workers have a contract. If the district truly cares about the education of their students, they will acknowledge that the education quality, school condition, working conditions, and worker pay heavily impact the students and their education. There must be an understanding that funding schools and offering fair pay goes beyond a contract. It is time for large corporations to pay their fair share. This way, more money can be allocated to school funds and teacher pay. Fighting for fair pay and working conditions means fighting for corporations to pay proper taxes and reforming Prop 13.
