Mayor Daniel Lurie Calls on Other Billionaires to Help Run SF

Just like Trump bowing to the whims of unelected billionaires and allowing them to run the United States, Mayor Daniel Lurie is doing the same thing to San Francisco. Lurie has called on a group of billionaire executives from corporations like Google, OpenAI, and Salesforce to collaborate to make San Francisco’s streets “cleaner and safer”. These billionaires have no political experience and aren’t beholden to the will of voters. Why should they be making decisions about the future of our city? The article this Letter to the Editor is in response to itself notes that progressives will not be happy with this idea, and they’re right.

Mayor Lurie should be calling upon experts in homelessness and public safety to find safe and effective ways to revitalize our city’s economy. These billionaires must bow to the will of their shareholders in the name of creating bigger profit margins and making the rich richer. They cannot be trusted to voice opinions with the good of the citizens of San Francisco in mind. What we really need is community members to tell us what is best for their own communities, people who have lived in San Francisco and who have a stake in its continued success as a city.
