Education Funding Promotes School Innovation, Without Question

COVID relief funds helped schools create innovative and joyous summer programs this year. And it was not just fun, it was a research-driven approach to education that uplifts students of all backgrounds from learning loss and pandemic woes. Schools were also able to provide mental health, enrichment, and wellness opportunities, in addition to improved academic programs.

These programs were only possible because of unprecedented funding. But they are the exception and not the rule, because our state does not fully-fund our schools. If we truly want the best for our students, and want to alleviate learning loss and give kids the social-emotional support they need, then we must provide a wide range of learning opportunities for our students. True academic innovation will only come with greater funding for our students, teachers, and schools. Anything less is unacceptable.
