Schools Need Stable Funding to Retain Critical School Staff

In early March the board of San Francisco Unified voted to eliminate 300 staff positions by a March 15th deadline. Whether you are an educator, administrator, janitor, office staff, etc. there is a chance that the district you work for will decide to cut you. So, with there already being staff shortages why is this happening? In short this is due to declining enrollment because of the COVID-19 pandemic and all the challenges that have come up with learning and lack of support for students and educators. The combination of lower enrollment and attendance has cost districts their funding. One-time dollars are not enough, we need our education system to become a PERMANENT STATE BUDGET PRIORITY. The structural deficit is what needs to be addressed.
