Devastating Wildfire Exposes Need for More Funding
Wildfires have long been a problem in California, but climate change has exponentially increased their devastation. Over the Summer, a 2,720-acre Washburn fire burned at the edges of Yosemite National Park‘s largest grove of ancient sequoia trees. This is a devastating consequence for our state’s natural resources, as the fire is threatening close to 5% of the world’s sequoia population. We need to provide our firefighters with more funding and more resources to address this devastation.
If repealed, funding from Pop 13 could provide critical support to our fire services. We must provide protection for our beautiful natural parks as well as the brave firefighters who fight to save them. Climate change is causing temperatures to soar, so the need for more funding will only increase year after year. We must take action now!
